The High Church is the landmark of Lemgow. It is dedicated to John the Baptist. Its brick tower probably dates from the 15th century, the 14th century apse built of fieldstone; the central part of the church was renewed around 1770. All components follow different styles. The tower and apse are attributed to the Gothic, the central part bears since its renewal baroque features. The organ inside dates from 1856 and was created by Eduard Meyer (1806-1889), Hanover. Adjacent to the church is an approximately two-acre cemetery with mature trees and linden trees.

The High Church in Lemgow is an impressive brick church. It stands quite alone between fields and meadows, far away from the villages in the Lemgow. For me it is always a very nice photo motif.
The church was built of field stone in the 13th century, at that time still without a tower, the church tower was added in the 15th century.
Today's nave, which is mostly made of brick, was built in 1770/71.
