If you want to get to Hamburg “quickly” from Cuxhaven, you don’t have to go that far because the island of Neuwerk is only 10 - 12 kilometers away and still belongs to the administrative district of Hamburg Mitte. On the 3.4 km² of the island with the highest elevation of 7 meters, agriculture was mainly practiced until the late 1960s, but today tourism is the main source of income.
