The building was built by the French architect Jacques Marquet between 1760 and 1768 in the heart of Puerta del Sol to be the headquarters of the Post Office service and he did so in the baroque style of the time. The combination of materials stands out, such as brick and stone, with the wrought iron of the balcony and the sculptural details by Antonio Primo.
