On the Windheimer Höhe, directly at the resting place, is the Napoleon bush. In 1806, Emperor Napoleon I held a meeting with his generals here before moving on to Saalfeld, where the war against Prussia under Prince Louis Ferdinand began. The Prussian army was completely wiped out by the battles near Jena and Auerstädt. The entire Franconian Forest and with it Windheim suffered a famine as a result of this passage.
