    Hiking

The Tarn pond to the east of Dorr Mountain was formed from a glacial meltwater lake. For many years the pond was used to farm trout. The dry summers in the 1990s reduced the water volume and led to an increase in aquatic plants. The pond is now increasingly swampy and is no longer used for fishing.

    Hiking

The Tarn ("tarn" meaning a small mountain lake), is an important marker for biodiversity and watershed characteristics in the region. Once a clear pond filled with trout, The Tarn is now filled with standing weeds as the water level has dropped over the past 30 years. In the summer it is overflowing with frogs, which makes the Kane Path a fun walk for families with small children.

The Tarn is a glacial meltwater lake. It is in a valley between two peaks, Mt. Dorr and Huguenot Head. The lake was primarily used as a trout fishing site, but as the water level has been steadily declining, it is now primarily used as a source of live bait.
