The climb up the mighty granite massif of Dorr Mountain begins at the mountain lake The Tarn. The Kurt Diederichs Climb was built by George Dorr a hundred years ago, before Acadia became a national park. When Acadia was declared a national monument by President Wilson in 1916, its center was the Sieur de Monts Spring and Dorr Mountain, which was then called Dry Mountain.
