Otto Knopf (born April 9, 1926 in Helmbrechts, † November 18, 2005 there) was a writer and dialect poet from the Franconian Forest.
The son of a weaving worker received training as a teacher. After the end of World War II, Knopf taught at the local elementary school. From 1968 until his retirement in 1989, Knopf headed the elementary school in Helmbrechts. The primary school in Helmbrechts has borne his name since 2014.
Button published 17 books and was the author of numerous other local history publications. In 2003 he was made an honorary citizen of Helmbrechts. Button was honorary chairman of the Franconian Forest Association, the Museum Association and the Teachers' Association. He was an active member of the board of directors of all clubs for many years. Button has received several awards for his commitment, he was the recipient of the Medal of Honor of the District of Upper Franconia, the Medal of Merit of the District of Hof, the Culture Prize of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Upper Franconia (1994) and the Golden Citizen's Medal of Helmbrechts.
His merits include the conversion of the local history museum in Helmbrechts into the Upper Franconian Textile Museum.
