Like the red and green lakes, the lake is located in the middle of the forest and is simply beautiful. An absolute tip for those who are looking for peace and quiet in nature.

The nature reserve is part of a renaturalized post-mining landscape north of the Mulde reservoir. It includes the remaining open-cast mining waters of the "Red Lake" in the northeast, the southern shore of the "Blue Lake" in the north and the "Schlauch", a 10 - 12 m deep cut in the terrain between two slopes of glacial till, in the west. The artificially created, arched "Blue Lake" has a mesotrophic character. The lake bed is only slightly silted. The nature reserve has been subject to natural development since 1963.The poetic names of the three lakes along the way, from green to blue to red, actually have something to do with the color of the waters and how they affect the viewer.
