Roughly here, on the so-called Rennbaumhuk, in the 18th century, Joachim Ulrich Giese had his people dig for clay and bring it to the monastery estate with donkeys. He acquired the island in 1754 and used the raw material to run a faience factory in Stralsund, i.e. he made fake porcelain. It's in the local museum.
