The first reason to visit Leer is the historic old town. It is considered the most valuable in the northwest due to the good condition of the historic buildings. No fewer than four (4!) castles can be found here in Leer, which indicates the importance of the city in the Middle Ages and modern times. The old town has a quaint and cozy feel. It is great fun to stroll through the old town on the partly historic pavement, to enjoy the many small and attractive shops and restaurants as well as the sights, especially since the historic harbor directly adjacent increases the overall ambience many times over in its magic. In short:
The old town of Leer with its pedestrian zone and the many historic buildings as well as the adjacent harbor are a dream sightseeing destination. An absolute feel-good place with 100% enjoyment guaranteed.
