The building and equipment of the eponymous stone sawmill were originally located on the grounds of the "Alte Steinsäge" (Old Stone Sawmill) Technical Collection. Thanks to the diligent work of Andreas Bartsch (steinbruchfuehrungen.de) and other volunteers, several relics from the old quarry days have been collected, creating an impressive exhibition on the grounds of the old stone sawmill.

Elfriede Lohse Wächtler was an important Dresden painter. She lived here for a while in the manager's house of the Schreckenbach quarry until she was murdered by the Nazis on July 31, 1940 in the Pirna Sonnenstein "euthanasia" facility.
