The Dortmund-Scharnhorst train station, opened in 1903, is located between the districts of Alt-Scharnhorst and Brackel. It is served by the RE 3 (Rhein-Emscher-Express) and RE 11 (Rhein-Hellweg-Express) lines and offers connections to the Ruhr area as well as to Hamm, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Aachen.
