Dozens of windmills once lined the coastline of the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. Very few are still functional today. The Saline mill is an exception. It is open to visitors.

The Saline mill is located in the coastal town of Cherrueix, in Ille-et-Vilaine, about twenty kilometers west of Mont-Saint-Michel.
Cylindrical in shape and built in granite, the building dates from 1827.
This windmill reflects the prosperous past of this coastal region in the field of grain cultivation. The wings were restored in 1998, after being classified as a historic monument in 1977 like two other mills of the same type in the area.
Located on the coast, on the Duchess-Anne dike, it benefited from the regular winds in this part of the bay.
The mill of La Saline is also adjacent to an old building dedicated to the production and storage of salt (hence the name), and which now houses a House of Local Products and Gastronomy with a museum space and a shop

Dozens of windmills once lined the coastline of Mont-Saint-Michel Bay. Very few remain today. One is the Moulin de la Saline north of Cherrueix. It was built in 1827 and was in operation until the 1940s. In the 1990s, the municipality of Cherrueix purchased the mill and outbuildings. By 2008, the mill, including the chestnut wood mill wings, had been completely restored. The Moulin de la Saline is functional and open to visitors.
