This beautiful location offers many beautiful views... This chapel is located in the cemetery of Sint-Hadelin...

Since the departure of the monks in 1337, the hill overlooking the church has been inhabited by hermits, responsible for respecting the places where Saint-Hadelin lived.

At the end of the 18th century, the counts of Liedekerke-Beaufort built a convent to welcome a community of nuns who disappeared in 1973.

Purchased by the municipality, the building is temporarily used as a primary school and kindergarten.
The chapel and the cellars have been converted into a tourist reception centre.

On the 6 km hike we had no cars and in addition 80% wood.
        Magnificent for a 6 km

Overlooking the village of Celles to the south, the old Saint-Hadelin hermitage seems to watch over the locality. Built in the 19th century, the neo-Romanesque building is built around a courtyard bordered by two perpendicular wings in limestone and bricks. On the ground floor, arcaded galleries open onto the courtyard and the statue of Saint-Hadelin. Each of their limestone columns is topped with a capital with an inverted fleur-de-lis motif. Announced by the spire of its porch tower, a chapel closes the complex to the north.

On the side of the hill, a Stations of the Cross connects the collegiate church to the hermitage. The fourteen stations of this beautiful access ramp have been revisited in a modern and symbolic way by the artist Pierre Courtois.
