One of several landmarks from the past.

Since 1816 only one national border has crossed the high plateau of the High Fens, first between the Netherlands and Prussia, since 1830 between Belgium and Prussia and since 1870 between Belgium and Germany. This border ran from Eupen in the north up the Hill to the source of the Hill, from there to Baraque Michel and along a New Vequée to just before Hockai. From there it continued along the Rotwasserbach (Eau rouge) towards Malmedy.
