"In 1660, the clergyman Gerhard Vynhoven (* 1596; † 1674) built this chapel. His intention was to bring the holy sites to the Lower Rhine region in order to "visually present the first and last days of the Lord to the souls of people shaken by the Thirty Years' War." Precise replicas of the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem and the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem were created. He initially called his building Beth-Jerusalem. However, the popular term "Little Jerusalem" quickly became established."

Small Jerusalem is always worth a visit. Especially on Ascension Day. At the weekend before the resident shooting club celebrates its shooting festival. Then the streets, the chapel and the scene of the crucifixion are always beautifully decorated.
