Amper Dorfteich, called Vierspann, is the original cell of Ampen. Water is vital, people may have lived here 2000 years ago.

The springs of the Vierspanns line up in a "spring border" that runs almost parallel to the B1 from Unna via Werl, Soest, Erwitte, Geseke and Paderborn.

The water seeping away in the area of the Haarstrang and the upper Börde flows underground to the north and reappears at the so-called Emscher Marl.

This is where the Amper Bach begins, which flows into the Blögge after four kilometers north-east of Schwefe. The sources of the four-in-hand have never dried up. Also, the four-in-hand has never frozen over.

The Soest-Ampen source is on my map as a village pond and is located almost in the heart of the Ampen district. Very idyllic and small, but a nice place to stay. The water is crystal clear there.
