The historic Sandhof was first mentioned in 1497. The name comes from the sandy underground in this area. The former court estate of the Bamberg Jesuits, which was built between 1639 and 1773, is situated in a scenic landscape. After the Jesuit order was banned in 1773, the Sandhof was transferred to the Bamberg monastery. After the secularization, he passed to Churbayern and his legal successors. The farm has been neglected since it was sold to private owners in 1969. In 2016, the Sandhof received new owners who renovated the main building with the support of the German Foundation for Monument Protection and since then the Sandhof has been shining in new splendor.

Mario Amico (KAB Düsseldorf) writes about the patron saint of this church: “In a time when many people are searching for guidance, Saint Francis Xavier invites us to be messengers ourselves – in our daily lives, in our surroundings. This means bearing witness through our actions, our words, and our love. For the message of the Gospel remains alive when we share it with love, joy, and courage. This saint is therefore a perfect fit for Advent,” which also includes the feast day of Saint Francis Xavier in the liturgical calendar: December 3rd.
