The project was initiated by Franziskus Wendels.
The Philosophenweg is a forest path on the edge of Daun. In a length of about two kilometers, it leads as a circular route around the "Wehrbüsch", a densely wooded hill. The Wehrbüsch Chapel, a war memorial as well as basalt rocks and wonderful viewpoints are along this path.
