Historical interpretation:
The complex of San Filiberto is located on a lawn by the lake. The church is the oldest chapel on the west coast of Lake Orta, built around the 11th century with the apse facing east towards the dock, which still exists today. † It is decorated with a series of fourteen chapels dating from 1794 and depicting the Via Crucis. In front of the facade of the church is the Romanesque bell tower, dated by the historian Verzone between 1075 and 1110. It is characterized by a simple square plan with thin slits in the lower part and two storeys with mullioned windows in the upper part, with brick arches and center stone columns. The church has a gabled facade with an entrance door lined with granite and with an oculus closed by a glass. Inside, the church consists of a single nave with a sloping ceiling made of wooden beams and planks. Two trunk fonts remain, a barrier in granite columns (1781) and the main altar in polychrome wood. On a wall, at the turn of the century, a part of the fresco depicting St. Julius and other figures with popular faces difficult to interpret came to light, where the name of St. Filiberto can be read in gothic characters.
