In the section up to Zwiesel, the route is partly covered with young trees and overgrown. From Zwiesel, the route up to just before the former terminus station in Bad Gottleuba was renovated in the 1990s as a mostly asphalt footpath and cycle path (terrain path).
Between Zwiesel and Berggießhübel, the Berggießhübel Local History Society has reinstalled some of the historic signage and signals.
