The Visitor Center of thr Park is located about 1200 m. altitude; it can be reached via paths (easily accessible on foot or by mountain bike, despite some challenging uphill stretches), or on more comfortably paved roads from Passo delle Radici-Corfino (28 km), from Castelnuovo Garfagnana-San Romano (20 km) and from Piazza al Serchio-Orzaglia (14 km )
The Orecchiella park, including three other State Natural Reserves (Pania di Corfino, Lamarossa, Orecchiella), covers over 5000 hectares of meadows and woods (hornbeam, Turkey oak, black pine, larch, fir, Douglas fir ...) and is home to a very varied natural fauna that includes wolves, roe deers, wild boars, martens, stone martens, weasels, badgers, foxes, buzzards, sparrow hawks, golden eagles, peregrine falcons, eagle owls...
It is equipped with parking areas, guides, bars and restaurants, accommodation facilities, water, picnic areas, mountain garden on the theme of biodiversity, free educational workshops on biodiversity (Thursday and Saturday), botanical garden, naturalistic museums, wildlife enclosures (with mouflons, roe deer and bears), all managed by a Forest Carabinieri unit.
It can be visited and walked freely. The visitor center, in the heart of the Park, can be accessed from the ticket office with prices of € 2-1-0 depending on age.
It is closed from November to March and is open from June to September every day and in April, May and October only on Saturdays and holidays with variable hours depending on the season (e.g. 10 am-6pm in summer)
