The Theodorichstor, directly at the castle, is the direct access from town to Main. After a renovation at the end of the 16th century, the battlement above the gate connects the castle directly with the castle garden. In the course of the redesign of the bank of the castle, the space in front of the gate towards the Main is also being changed: a new landing stage for water hikers is to be built. The slipway must be relocated for this.

Cycling

The pointed arched Theodoric Gate interrupts the defensive wall on the Main, where the Schlossberg leads to the banks of the river. At the apex of the arch was the coat of arms of the Elector of Mainz and Archbishop Dietrich (Theodoric) Schenk von Erbach (1390–1459), who had the gate built. There are eleven corbels on the Main side. The flood levels of the Main are marked on the side of the gate.
