The Catholic branch church of St. Laurentius is a baroque country church that was built in the mid-18th century based on plans by Johann Jakob Michael Küchel. In 1743 the foundation stone was laid for the church. In the autumn of 1745 the construction work was stopped due to a lack of money and finally ended in 1750. The Main above Bamberg used to form the border between the dioceses of Bamberg and Würzburg. Oberbrunn belonged to the Bishopric of Bamberg, but the pastor responsible for the parish of Döringstadt was subordinate to the bishop of Würzburg. As part of the reorganization of the Bavarian dioceses, the parish was assigned to the diocese of Bamberg in 1808. In 1812 Oberbrunn came to the parish of Ebensfeld.

The eastern baroque country church stands on the eastern outskirts of Oberbrunn. The sandstone building has a single-tower facade with a roof turret. There is a central risalit below the entrance portal with a cartouche with the crowned coat of arms of the Prince Bishop Johann Philipp Anton von und zu Franckenstein. Above that is the belfry, not in the slated lantern, which has an octagonal floor plan, but in the gable area.[1]

The recessed chancel with a three-eighth note has a straight front wall, behind which is the sacristy, and rounded, recessed sloping walls. There is a tall rectangular window in each of the two side walls. A flat plaster ceiling with a profiled cornice and a triangle with the eye of God spans the chancel. A round choir arch connects the choir with the nave.[2]

A gallery axis and two window axes structure the nave with its hall, which is lit by four large windows. The corners are rounded. Two spiral staircases provide access to the wooden organ gallery. The pitched roof of the nave is covered with plain tiles.

The Catholic branch church of St. Laurentius was built as a baroque building between 1743 and 1750 according to plans by Johann Jakob Michael Küchel by the Staffelstein master mason Johann König and Johann Thomas Nißler. Due to a lack of money, construction work on the church, which was expensive for the small village, was temporarily stopped. It is a hall building with a retracted chancel, behind the front wall of which is the sacristy. The nave with the hall is divided into two window axes. The western gable end is designed as a single-tower façade. There is a cartouche with the crowned coat of arms of Prince Bishop Johann Philipp Anton von und zu Franckenstein above the entrance portal. Another twelve sights are included in the list of monuments in Oberbrunn.
