In the middle of the green Prater in Vienna lies the Heustadlwasser. It is a former arm of the Danube that flowed around a frequently flooded floodplain, the Krieau, from the Vienna Trade Fair to the Lusthaus as an island. A hay barn for feeding wildlife was built on this "island", hence the name of the body of water. In 1875, the inflow of the Heustadlwasser was filled in during the regulation of the Danube in Vienna.
