A fajã is a flow of lava that has cooled of and created a new land mass. Fajã de Santo Cristo is unique in its remote location. There’s small town on it with some options for overnight and a restaurant that serves, amongst other thing, fresh sea food. One of the most unique places you will ever visit!

The Fajã de Santo Cristo is just lovely and idyllic. It is just accessible by walking, bike or quad. It is very original and isolated, but so wonderful. The Landscape and the houses are amazing!
Near the wall to the ocean you can find the small Taberna o Convés, a little restaurant with friendly service, delicious food (also vegan!) and cold drinks!

The Fajã de Santo Cristo was not formed by a lava flow like most other fajas, but by the undermining of the rocks and the collapse of the overlying rock walls.
