The Chapel of Santa Filomena, located in Fajã da Penedia, was built in 1889. It is notable for its basalt stonework and white masonry finishes, highlighting the stone details on the doors and windows. The interior, containing the image of Saint Philomena, combines tones of white and gray with natural wood. The hermitage was excommunicated and was the scene of controversy, but today it is a point of pilgrimages on the island.
