In the district of Gütersloh, in the Wiedenbrück district of Rheda-Wiedenbrück, there is the Catholic St. Ursula Church. It is looked after by the Franciscans of the attached monastery. For this reason, the people of Wiedenbrück also call it the Franciscan Church or the Father's Church. The name St. Ursula Church is rarely used anymore. In 1470, today's St. Ursula Church was built on the remains of a church from the 12th century. At the beginning of the 17th century, it was used by the Jesuits. The church was given to the Franciscans by the Prince-Bishop of Osnabrück from 1644 onwards. In 1740, the confessional chapel and the sacristy were added.By decision of the Reich government, all bronze bells were confiscated for the armaments industry in 1940/1942. Only the smallest bell (Klepp bell from 1645) remained in the church. It was the only church bell in all of Wiedenbrück until after the war.In 2008, a comprehensive interior renovation took place. The exterior renovation followed two years later. The church forecourt was redesigned in 2010/2011.

A beautiful church from the outside.
And the adjoining monastery has a very nice herb garden.
The herb garden is wonderfully decorated with lights during Advent.
