Built around 1505 as part of the city fortifications, the Wollweberturm was already used for housing cannons. Its name indicates that the wool weavers' guild had to defend the tower and the adjacent city walls. Later, the tower belonged to the upper court of the Counts of Waldeck and was also called "Herrschafter Turm". The well-preserved tower was converted into living quarters in 1900. Today, the tower with its extension houses a restaurant.
