The small chapel from 1721 was financed from the church's own resources and was therefore built from local wood and with simple clay panels. The chapel was designed to accommodate 100 visitors and was also intended to be used as a school when it was built, as there was no longer enough space in the rectory. It is open daily from 1 April to 31 October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The chapel from 1721 is probably the oldest building in Mardorf and a gem worth seeing.

The chapel is located in the center of the village and is still used by the community for its services today. The unusual floor plan in the shape of an octagon cannot be clearly explained. The wooden panels were made of wickerwork, which was covered with clay. On the hipped roof at the western end of the ridge there is a bell tower resting on two supports, like a ridge turret, with a weather vane and a ball.

The small (Christ) chapel has been a cycle path church since 2012.
