If you turn off the L 209, you have the feeling to get into another time. Petersdorf is the second largest district of Fehmarn. Coming from the east, the old windmill Südermühle is on the left. St. John's Church in Petersdorf dates from the 13th century. Its 64 meter high tower is visible up to 20 miles across the sea and was therefore also used by ships as a day mark in the Belt and Sound. Today you can discover a particularly valuable altar shrine from the 15th century and a particularly old Gotland limestone baptismal font. The Gothic three-winged altar from the 14th century is also considered a major work of Gothic carving and barrel art. In keeping with its height, 64 linden trees surround the church and the adjacent cemetery.

Built in the middle of the 13th century, the church of St. Johannis in the center of the village has the highest church tower on the island (64 meters high and visible from afar).
