An eye-catcher at this intersection for years.

Alongside the glass elephant, he is the undisputed star among the many Hamm landmark pachyderms: the flower elephant on the corner of Ostenallee/Fährstraße in the spa gardens.

Manni is not the only flower elephant in Hamm. There are others on Theodor-Heuss-Platz in front of the town hall, in front of the Herringen Citizens' Office and at the entrance to Selbachpark - the latter is called "Elise" by the way. They all usually change their outfits twice a year: "In autumn, pansies are planted, which ideally remain until the summer planting in May. Ice begonias are usually used for the summer," says city spokesman Tobias Köbberling. The cost per action and elephant: around 2500 euros.

Only Manni received special treatment: in winter he received a "moss outfit with a grass cap", meaning he was dressed three times. "Special accessories" complement the outfit every now and then. At Christmas time, for example, he regularly wears a red and white pointed cap. Countless selfies and other photos from enthusiastic visitors testify to his popularity as a photo hotspot and social media star. A city advertising medium could hardly be more positive.
