Jacob van Artevelde (* around 1290 in Ghent; † 17 July or 24 July 1345) was the de facto regent of Flanders from 1340 to 1345. His son Philipp van Artevelde was the leader of the Ghent uprising in 1382.

Another outstanding square in the old town of Ghent. In the center is the statue of Jacob van Artevelde.
The interesting highlights, however, are the surrounding historic houses.
