Lake Kaarst is a recreational area close to the city. A path goes all around the lake, many small bays or paths lead directly to the water.

Caution! Swimming is not allowed in the large lake, the currents and the depth (up to 20 meters according to Wikipedia) are easily underestimated. Even in the bathing area of the small lake, where bathing is allowed, children should not be unsupervised. In July 2018, two fatal swimming accidents occurred in quick succession.

Today I let my four-legged friend widen me from Vorster Wald to Kaaster See.
    A huge mistake!
The lake is praised by the environmental agency as one of the cleanest bodies of water, which means that the path outside is really the dirty thing I've seen for a long time.
From pizza boxes to leftover grilled meat, pudding cups to human excrement, you can find everything there.
Just stay away from this lake with your dogs.

Nice tour around the Kaarster lake, suitable for bicycles and prams. In bad weather, sturdy footwear is recommended as the paths are very soft.

Today I let my four-legged friend persuade me to change from Vorster Wald to Kaarster See.
    Unfortunately a big mistake.
Since the lake is touted as one of the cleanest bodies of water by the environmental agency, the path around it is really the dirtiest thing I've seen in a long time! From pizza boxes,
    Barbecue waste,
From pudding cups to human excrement everything can be found there.
Stay away from this place with your dogs 🐕.

The lakes can be circled well, but on the side with the BAB57 it stinks of exhaust fumes and it is quite noisy.
