Søholt Castle's first named owner was Morten Venstermand, who increased his holdings around the newly established manor house around 1550. During the Swedish Wars (1657-1660) Søholt was badly damaged. Today's main building dates from 1804. The castle is known for its baroque garden, which is open to visitors (admission 20 crowns, money box at the open main gate). A first garden was laid out here in the 1690s. You should definitely take a look at the orangery in the magnificent complex, the lovingly furnished glass house can be booked for festive occasions. The baroque garden is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., while Café Søholt is only open during the summer months (June–August, Fri–Sun, 12 p.m.–4 p.m.). soeholt.nu
