This cathedral is a beautiful medley of architectural styles. Its construction began in Romanesque style, later the floor plan was changed to the Gothic style, in which the cathedral was completed. Finally, the main portal was built in neoclassical style. Mary's bell, located in the left tower, dates from 1584 and is the second largest in Spain.

A breathtaking Roman Catholic cathedral, it has a fascinating crucifix from the 16th century. Gold decorations line the side altars of this religious site, which was built in neoclassical and Gothic styles. See the largest church bell used in Spain, which weighs 12 tons and is called "Maria". Don't miss the Royal Mausoleum, which contains the statues of kings, or the crypt below, where the remains of royalty are buried.

Today's Gothic church had a previous Romanesque building that was built between 1100 and 1127 (the construction of the associated monastery lasted until 1137). A few capitals of the portal and the monastery still remain, which are exhibited in the Museum of the Comunidad Foral de Navarra. In 1280 the construction of a new monastery began. The construction work lasted until 1375, including the outbuildings such as the refectory, kitchen and Barbazàn Chapel. In 1391, the nave of the 11th century Romanesque cathedral collapsed (Wikipedia).
