The town hall in Murnau am Staffelsee was built in 1842 and is a protected architectural monument. As the old town hall with its attached Schranne and granary had become dilapidated, it was demolished and replaced by a new building on the same site. The three-storey Gothic hipped roof building with a two-storey flat gable roof extension has tracery windows. The facade painting depicts the Mater Dolorosa and Ludwig the Bavarian.
