The former mill of the Osnabrück bishop is located on the north side of Osnabrück's old town of the historic Domburg (Domsfreiheit) near the Hasefurt over the Hase city river, today on the Angersbrücke. It was already mentioned in documents in the early 13th century. The name Pernickelmühle also goes back to the Middle Ages, although there are various explanations for the meaning of "Pernickel".
