When in 1903 in France the dissolution of the convents was threatened by the law separating church and state, some of the Trappist nuns from the La Coudre convent founded the convent of Notre Dame de Bonne Garde in Blitterswijck, west of Kevelaer, as a refuge in the Netherlands, but had to do so in 1919 give up due to flooding and was sent in 1920 by the mother monastery (keeping the name) to Sainte-Anne-d'Auray to be re-established, where the community was able to stay until 1953, but then moved to Campénéac to be re-established (with a change of name).
