After the construction of the new equipment house was completed in 1992, it took quite a while for the old fire station to become something new. On the initiative of the then state fire chief Jürgen Helmdach, a forest fire trail was set up. In 2002, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Gosda II local fire brigade, the museum was officially handed over.
