From Footpath to Toll Road. At the end of the 19th century, Liebstadt resembled a rural enclave. The town was only accessible via the approximately 900-year-old military road. The much-needed road through the Seidewitz Valley to Pirna was built in 1870/71. Road construction changed the townscape. The historic "Old Post Road" became deserted. The stagecoach made its last run in 1920; in the same year, the first bus line was opened.
