Fähr lies in the valley of the Wupper northeast of the center of Leichling in the natural unit Unteres Wuppertal at the foot of the Wupperberg. The nearby river forms the city boundary to Solingen. The location on the Wupperufer bordered on both sides of the nature reserve Wupper slopes.
The Haus Fähr was formerly a tourist restaurant. It is permanently closed.
