The building, built around 1385, is probably the oldest surviving half-timbered house in Hilpoltstein. The town house was built as a two-story, gable-independent half-hip roof building with an “owl hole” and a cellar. Although it has been rebuilt several times over the centuries, remnants of the original half-timbered construction still remain. The front gable end was completely renovated in the 16th century. A restoration completed in 1995 gave the house new life and gave it back its authentic charm. The sandstone masonry and decorative framework were exposed.

"...Not to forget the Götzhaus from 1385 and therefore the oldest town house in Hilpoltstein. Thanks to the fundamental renovation and restoration, the building's age is not noticeable at all..."
