Since the year 1517 the pilgrimage exists in the Weggental. For centuries it has been an important element of ecclesiastical life far beyond Rottenburg's city limits. Also, a "Brotherhood to the Seven Sorrows of Mary" existed until the 18th century.
From 1653 to 1773, the Jesuits cared for the pilgrimage, from 1919 to 2016 Franciscans took over this task. Since 2016, Carmelite Fathers from the Indian province of Andhra-Pradesh have been working there.translated by•June 11, 2018
