    Mystical stones along the way
Between 4500 and 1000 BC peoples lived in Europe whose stone buildings still exist today
are visible. The witnesses of this megalithic culture just pose a mystery: what were they used for
Rows of stones, hinkel, wobbly and perforated stones that they erected? Hikers are allowed to join
when they go in search of traces in the Säuliamt. Most of the stones
cultic-religious functions are imitated. So a mystical spring
hike, where wafts of mist are suitable companions. The first row of stones is in
Grüthau (coordinates 677550/235'170) next to the forest path and consists of L-shaped
lined up sandstones. What at first glance looks like an old electric fence
sees, was probably built for cult purposes. Likewise the Lochstein at the hamlet
Green (677,400/234,980); its hole shows the sunrise and .
sunset on. In front of the Homberger Weid there is a rocking stone from Nagelfluh
(678'670/233'760), which in the meantime can no longer be moved under its own power.
Rocking stones were originally used as oracles or as places for offerings. Also
Obelix says hello: On the Homberg there is an almost two meter high menhir
(678,900/233,720). The landowner found it just below the surface of the ground
che, and he then placed it in front of the fence of his pasture. The "Keltenmürli", one of the
most impressive megalithic complexes in the Knonaueramt, lies hidden in the forest above
Herferswil (679"320/233'920). The well-preserved row of megaliths is L-shaped and
in all about 37 meters long and seven meters wide. Particularly evident are the
large, moss-covered stones of the north-south axis.
