Bike Touring Highlight
The Villette Park owes its origins to the Zurich banker son Heinrich Schultheiss-von-Meiss, who, as a board member and major shareholder of the NOB (Swiss Norostbahn), was instrumental in the land negotiations for the new Zurich-Lucerne railway connection and on this occasion a former farmer's estate on Lake Zug acquired and built a villa there for himself. Cleverly Schultheiss-von-Meiss used his relationships and put the material that was removed for the construction of the railway line at the church hill, to expand his property. This resulted in a much larger lake and an artificial small island. Both still make the Villette Park very attractive today.
Exceptional are the many different, sometimes rare tree species that are maintained on the site. More at dendrodata.ch/pdf/Villettepark_Baumfuehrer_zt.pdf
The beautiful area serves as a recreational area and is definitely worth a visit.
