I have already seen countless pictures and statues that depict the motif “Mary with the (Jesus) child”. But this one is really interesting and different. The view of the sculpture with the course of the Isar in the background is worth stopping and taking a closer look at.
(I haven't found any information as to whether I'm correct about the motif or who the artist is. Can anyone help?)

The Bridge Madonna "Maria with Child" by the Penzberg sculptor Anton Ferstl sits on the bridge over the Isar between Wolfratshausen and Egling. For more than 28 years she led an inconspicuous existence, a little way away from the bank between the bushes of the Pupplinger Au.
She was consecrated there after the bridge was completed in December 1990. The modern representation of the Virgin Mary triggered storms of protest from conservative Madonna worshipers because of her short, tight-fitting dress. A few months later, unknown religious zealots threw them into the river on a June night in 1991. It was re-erected away from the bridge on the west bank after its restoration in June 1992. Since September 2020, the “very beautiful figure” has been back in its original place on the bridge. The headline in the SZ was: Anton Ferstl's Madonna statue was pushed into the Isar in 1991 because of its short dress and then banished to the bushes on the Pupplinger Au. Now the holy figure is back in its original place.
