Cycling

Ackermann completed an apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker from 1955 to 1958 and subsequently interned in the design/stylistics department at S. Werner in Stuttgart until 1960. Since 1964, he has worked as a freelance graphic artist and industrial designer and now works exclusively as a sculptor.

In 1972, Ackermann purchased a railway guard's house in Gäufelden-Nebringen. Since 1973, he has created works in steel, wood, and stone. The artist has presented solo and group exhibitions since 1979. Starting in 1986, Ackermann expanded the railway guard's house, including its studio and grounds, into a Gesamtkunstwerk (KKW) called "Kunst-Kraft-Werk" (KKW).
