Metal plates are incorporated into the space in front of the synagogue that commemorate Steinsfurters who were humiliated, enslaved, had to suffer health problems or even died for political, racist and social reasons, because of their faith, their world view and their way of life.

Foundation stone laid September 25, 1893
Inauguration: The synagogue was officially inaugurated on July 13, 1894. The Torah scrolls were transferred from the old prayer room to the new synagogue as part of a procession.

Not only the local newspaper "Der Landbote" reported on the two-day inauguration festival, but also the newspaper "Der Israelit" published in Frankfurt/M:
"The ... Jewish community ... celebrated the inauguration of their newly built synagogue last Friday. The festivity was dignified and uplifting in every respect. Rabbi Dr. Sondheimer from Heidelberg was able to rightly emphasize in his celebratory sermon, like all residents of Steinsfurth without distinction of faith with rare unanimity, by flagging the houses and taking part in the celebration. Both the Catholic and the Evangelical clergyman of the village were among the guests of honour."

This passage not only proves the celebratory atmosphere of the inauguration, but is also a clear indication of the harmonious coexistence of Christians and Jews. The lively participation of residents of all denominations, including the clergy, shows that Jews had long since become accepted residents and integrated into village life.
