Hiking

The Schwentine River flows through 12 to 13 lakes of varying sizes within the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park (Holstein Lake District), whose shores are partially formed by wooded hills. The surrounding area therefore offers a great deal of variety for canoeing and kayaking. Many interesting water birds can be seen, and white-tailed eagles are frequently spotted. Between the lakes, the Schwentine flows as a picturesque little river that delights every paddler. On a canoe trip down the Schwentine, vehicles can be transported by train along the entire route.
